Our History

Our History:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi, Inc. was established in 1996.  At that time, a charter with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America was applied for and granted.  This organization has been in good standing with them throughout this time.  Currently, over 2,000 youth a year are being served.  Services include summer programs, after school programs, organized sports, educational programs, citizenship and leadership programs, cultural enrichment, and technology programs.

Mission:

The Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission is to help youth of all backgrounds, with special concern for those from disadvantaged circumstances (social, economic, educational, physical, cultural, etc.) develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi, Inc. programs and activities are dedicated to promoting leadership, character, health, and career development while emphasizing social, cultural, character and leadership development, help and life skills, educational and growth.

Our vision is to be the premier youth serving agency in North Mississippi, providing comprehensive youth services for children and their families.  To be effective, these services must be offered by a caring, talented and trained staff, and sustained by strong leadership from the Board of Directors.  Completing the vision is a supportive community that invests at that individual, corporate and government level.

We believe there is good in every child and our challenge is to seek out the good and build upon it.  The only way to help children reach their full potential is through a comprehensive youth development strategy, incorporating Club programs that instill in youth a sense of competence, a sense of usefulness, a sense of belonging and a sense of influence or power.
